Let’s Be Honest: We Judge a GTA by Its Cars

That’s just how it is. You can have the greatest story ever written, the biggest map, the most charismatic characters — if the cars feel sluggish and the driving is janky, it falls apart. GTA is, above all, the thrill of driving. Taking a corner too fast in a stolen supercar, feeling the rear end kick out, weaving between police cruisers at 120 mph. And from what we’ve seen in the GTA 6 trailers? Rockstar absolutely gets it.

Vehicles Confirmed by the Trailers

The two official trailers have shown a catalog that already looks massive. And we’ve probably only seen a fraction of what will be available.

Cars: From Muscle to Luxury

The streets of Vice City packed with vehicles

Several categories are clearly identifiable in the trailers:

  • Muscle cars — Aggressive lines, imposing bodies, that pure American heritage. Models that scream V8 just by looking at them. Perfectly fitting for Leonida’s Florida atmosphere.
  • Supercars and sports cars — At least three high-end models spotted in racing sequences. Sculpted bodies, flashy colors, low profiles. The kind of car you steal first when exploring the open world.
  • Sedans and SUVs — Everyday vehicles that fill the streets and make the city feel real. Modern designs, model variety. They’re not here to be flashy — they’re here to bring the world to life.
  • Pickup trucks — This is Florida, after all. Trucks are everywhere in the rural areas, near the Grassrivers and across Leonida’s countryside. A perfect fit for the setting.
  • Police vehicles — Interceptors, law enforcement SUVs, likely with variants depending on the area. Because getting chased by the cops is half the fun.

Two Wheels: Sport Bikes and Choppers

Trailer 2 was a treat for motorcycle fans. We spotted at minimum:

  • Sport bikes flying at full speed in what looks like an intense pursuit. Fluid animations, a palpable sense of speed even through video.
  • Choppers/cruisers in calmer sequences, cruising through the open world. Perfect for exploring Leonida’s coastal roads at sunset.

Watercraft: Florida Demands It

The turquoise waters of the Leonida Keys

Leonida’s coastal setting opens enormous possibilities on the water, and the trailers confirm it:

  • Jet skis on the turquoise waters of the Leonida Keys. Fast, nimble, perfect for coastal chases.
  • Speedboats in port areas. Multiple different models, from fishing boats to racing craft.
  • A luxury yacht spotted in Trailer 1. Will we be able to own one? Fingers crossed.

In the Skies

Helicopters and what appears to be a small prop plane make brief appearances. Aerial gameplay is back. In a state as vast as Leonida, it’s practically a necessity for travel — and for those high-flying missions (pun very much intended).

Driving Physics: The Revolution We’ve Been Waiting For?

This might be the most exciting element of everything we’ve seen. The trailers show radically different driving physics from GTA V. Vehicles have weight. Inertia. When a car takes a corner, you can feel the tires fighting for grip. Body damage is far more detailed, with realistic localized impacts — no more generic dents, but precise collision modeling.

We also see much more varied interaction animations. Lucia and Jason don’t get into a pickup the same way they get into a supercar. That level of detail is what transforms a good experience into an unforgettable one.

Comparison with GTA V: The Numbers Game

To appreciate the scale of what’s coming, a quick reminder. GTA V launched with roughly 350 vehicles in 2013. With GTA Online updates over the years, that number surpassed 700. For GTA 6, the community expects an even larger catalog at launch:

CategoryGTA V (launch)GTA 6 (estimated)
Cars~260350+
Motorcycles~4050+
Boats~2535+
Aircraft~2530+

Note: these estimates come from community analysis and leaks, not official Rockstar figures. But let’s be realistic — would Rockstar release a game with fewer vehicles than GTA V after a decade of development? We don’t think so.

What’s Confirmed

  • Multiple vehicle classes visible in trailers: muscle cars, supercars, sedans, trucks, bikes, boats, aircraft
  • Significantly improved driving physics with weight and inertia
  • Detailed vehicle damage modeling
  • Varied character entry/exit animations per vehicle type
  • Watercraft gameplay in Leonida’s extensive coastal areas

What’s Still Speculation

Several community-dreamed features remain unconfirmed:

  • Deep customization — Leaks suggest a tuning system far more advanced than GTA V. Mechanical mods, cosmetics, detailed paint jobs. Every gearhead’s dream.
  • Electric vehicles — Tesla-inspired models in a modern setting? It would make sense. Imagine the silent acceleration for discreet getaways.
  • Mechanical degradation — A breakdown and wear system. No more indestructible cars that still drive after fifteen barrel rolls?
  • Public transportation — Buses, trams, metro. Sorely missing from GTA V, and it would add a massive layer of immersion.
  • Amphibious vehicles — Road to water in an instant. Leonida’s swamps would be the perfect playground.

The Verdict (For Now)

GTA 6 is shaping up to be the Rockstar game with the most ambitious, diverse, and polished vehicle roster of all time. Between Vice City’s streets, the Grassrivers bayous, the Keys’ waters, and Leonida’s skies, every vehicle type will have its ideal playground. And if the driving physics are as good as the trailers suggest, we might be looking at the best driving system ever seen in an open-world game.

This article combines observations from the official trailers and community estimates. Features not shown in the trailers are clearly identified as speculative.
