How did we estimate these specs?
Rockstar hasn't published anything official for the PC version of GTA 6, and the PC release isn't even dated yet. We work from three verifiable data points.
- RDR2 (2019) on PC required at minimum a GTX 770, with a recommended GTX 1060 6 GB. The gap between minimum and recommended was roughly 2x in raw performance.
- The GTA 6 trailers show a meaningful visual leap: vegetation density on par with RDR2, partially ray-traced lighting (reflections on Vice City night scenes), and NPC density beyond GTA V.
- The PS5 / Xbox Series X target runs at 30 fps in quality mode. To match this visual bar at 60 fps in 1440p on PC, we extrapolate to an RTX 4070 / RX 7800 XT, roughly a 2.5x jump from RDR2's recommended target.
Bottom line: the entry ticket is going up noticeably from RDR2. An RTX 3060 and a 10th-gen i5 should be enough on low, but visual comfort will demand 2022+ hardware on both components.
Frequently asked questions
Will GTA 6 release on PC at the same time as consoles? ▾
No. Rockstar has confirmed November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. The PC version will follow later, just like GTA V (2 years after consoles) and RDR2 (1 year later). No PC date has been announced yet.
How much storage will GTA 6 take? ▾
RDR2 takes ~120 GB and GTA V Enhanced ~95 GB. With a bigger map, next-gen textures, and uncompressed audio, expect 150-200 GB for GTA 6. SSD will be mandatory; HDD won't be supported.
Will Steam Deck or Mac run GTA 6? ▾
Steam Deck: very unlikely natively given the visual jump, possibly via GeForce Now streaming. Mac: Rockstar has never released GTA V or RDR2 on macOS, no reason to believe GTA 6 will change that.
My GPU isn't in the list, what should I pick? ▾
Pick the closest model in performance, or the "Other" option. To compare, look up a 3DMark Time Spy benchmark of your card vs the ones in the list.
