What it means

The average across the three precedents lands at J-165, roughly 5.5 months before release. For GTA 6 (November 19, 2026), this maps to a pre-order opening window between late May and early June 2026. As that window closes without an opening, the probability of a later Rockstar window (matching GTA V Enhanced at J-124) rises, pointing to mid-July 2026 at the latest.

Methodology

Statuses are checked manually by the GTA6 Gaming team, combining a daily review of product listings at each retailer and signals from the site's monitoring pipeline. A rumor is only listed when covered by at least one reputable gaming source. Nothing is synthesized automatically: a human validates every change.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pre-order GTA 6 right now?

No, not as of May 23, 2026. No retailer has opened pre-orders (Rockstar Games Store, PSN, Xbox Store, Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, none of them). A Best Buy rumor in mid-May 2026 pointed to a possible opening the week of May 18, but it did not materialize. Be wary of third-party sites claiming to sell GTA 6 pre-orders right now: those are scams.

When will pre-orders open?

Following Rockstar precedents (GTA V at J-228, RDR2 at J-144, GTA V Enhanced at J-124), a credible window falls between late May and mid-July 2026. The closer we get to July without an opening, the more likely we match the GTA V Enhanced pattern (4 months before release). The window becomes unlikely past J-100 (mid-August).

How much will GTA 6 cost at pre-order?

Rockstar has not announced an official price. Financial analysts have floated a possible 80 to 100 USD price tag for the Standard Edition (vs 60 USD for GTA V in 2013, 60 USD for RDR2 in 2018). A Collector edition is likely (Special, Premium, or equivalent) at 100-150 USD with bonus in-game content. To be confirmed at pre-order opening.

Should I pre-order or wait?

Pre-ordering GTA 6 has two upsides: in-game bonuses (skin, vehicle, or GTA Online cash as with GTA V), and the guarantee of getting the game day-one. If you can wait a few days, waiting costs nothing and lets you read first reviews. For physical editions, stock can be tight in the first days.

How is this tracker updated?

The team checks product pages at major retailers every day. The site's monitoring pipeline (link below) auto-surfaces signals: official announcements, leaks reported by gaming press, product pages appearing or disappearing. Every status change is validated by a human before publication.
